East Port of Spain Community Arts Festival “ Sweet Morvant” preparing for inaugural staging.

The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited together with the community of Morvant and environs with the support of the Art Society of Trinidad & Tobago and Gayelle the Channel as well as other supporting agencies have been preparing over the past few weeks for the inaugural staging of the East Port of Spain Community Arts Festival
“Sweet Morvant”.
The Festival will be launched on 25th September 2014 @ 6:00pm and is scheduled to unfold from the 25th September to 28th September 2014 at the Morvant Recreation Ground, Park Street Morvant as well as the Morvant Empowerment Centre (Old Morvant Health Centre) and the Ebonites Pan Theatre Dos Santos Street Morvant will facilitate all forms of artistic and cultural expression - including dance, music, spoken word, art, film, food, fashion and other art forms from all sectors of the community. The initiative is not only designed to engender a sense of pride in participants and residents, but also to create/stimulate new industries which will provide new revenue sources for community growth, self-sufficiency, sustainability and creativity.
The Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Gayelle the Channel have been assisting and guiding the Art Exhibition and Film Festival respectively. The Art Exhibition will be launched on 25th September from 10:00am at the Morvant Empowerment Centre (Old Morvant Health Centre). As a result of preparatory work for the film festival, residents under the direction of Mr. Errol Fabien is in the process of producing a short film that will be premiered during the Festival. The Film Festival will be conducted at the Ebonites Pan Theatre from 7:00pm each night. The IATF and the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation is also lending support to all aspects of the festival.
